Two sets of stairs stand ready to evacuate researchers in the event of a fire. Because of the high elevator traffic during the day, the stairs are a popular choice for moving vertically. After hours the elevators and stairs lock... so beware trying to get between floors via the stairs... if you forget your keys you may be flushed out of the building.
