Netrek is a game of galactic domination. The goal is to conquer enemy planets with friendly armies.
The standard game involves at least 4 players per team and as many as 16 total players and several observers. There are 40 planets in the standard game, with 20 of them remaining neutral in the usual two-sided engagement.
Players can select from several ship types ranging from fast/fragile scouts, to slow/sturdy battleships.
Netrek is played across the internet, often over wide geographic distances.
