MATLAB Installation Guide for Unix

Viewing the License Manager Log File

The file /var/tmp/lm_TMW.log contains a log of all license activity. The license manager appends a new entry to the log each time a license transaction occurs. To save file space, occasionally delete information from the file.

You can view the file with the command lmstart -e, or use the UNIX cat command. (You can also use the lmstart command to change the default directory where the log file is stored.) For help interpreting error messages and suggested remedies to common errors, refer to the section License Manager Error Messages.

Viewing the Installer Log File

The installer creates a log file each time it is run. It puts the log file in the top-level installation directory, $MATLAB. The name of the log file includes a number that identifies which CD in the set was used for the installation.

For example, if you installed products from CD 1 in the set, the log file is named install_matlab1.out.
